SEO Tips & Tricks: They Don't Want You to Know About

Offer A Print Page Option

Professional looking Web sites offer their users a print page option for each of their articles. John H. Gohde reviews a plugin that lets you offer a print page option on your WordPress blog. He is very impressed with this great plugin by Lester Chan.

The WP-Print plugin

The WP-Print plugin (Download), version 2.31, by Lester ‘GaMerZ’ Chan displays a printable version of your WordPress blog’s posts and pages. The plugin offers a nice selection of options under WordPress’s Settings tab.

John H. Gohde likes this plugin very much. It allows him to make his blog more professional looking. The only real negative to this plugin is that it does not come with a widget option. But all you really have to do is cut and paste one line of code into one of your sidebars. This blog will be covering how to edit your sidebars in a forthcoming post.

All standard blog posts and pages are nicely printed. Pages that are generated by a plugin work flawlessly. But, pages generated by a page template unfortunately do not. There is, however, a quickfix. With your visual editor enabled. All you really have to do is cut and paste a copy of your displayed page into the respective page using WordPress‘s Manage Page tab. The only problem with this solution is that your page will eventually get out of date.

Pages that are formatted to offer a print option are duplicate content that should be excluded from being indexed in search engines. This plugin takes care of this automatically by putting a do not index meta tag in each generated print option page.

Over all, John H. Gohde highly recommends this very impressive plugin.
