Design is What Counts

WordPress ease of use is more imaginary than real.

People are actually foolish enough to believe that creating a new Web site is an effortless endeavor, thanks to WordPress. Wrong: Those that try soon realize that Blogs can be a colossal time waster.

It has always been about Design

Sure you can put something up. Sure your can write a lot of posts. But, that is about it. You still have to deal with designing a Web site. You have WordPress doing a lot of the work for you. But, you have to select your theme. You have to select your plugins.

It is the design of your blog, that is the truly hard part: Stupid!

I have spent way too much time debugging both CSS and PHP code. If it was not for my recent CSS programming experience this blog of mine would have failed a couple of dozen times. Just wait to see, how coolly you respond when your entire site goes completely blank after you just tweaked the PHP code of a sidebar or plugin.

You still have to overcome the SEO hurdles Google puts into your way. Or, nobody will be able to find your blog. And, that means more design in the permalinks department, as well as selecting all your other options correctly.

Sure, anybody can put up a WordPress blog overnight. But, only a few can overcome all the design and programming challenges necessary to excel with a WordPress blog.
